David Sierra – Artist

Artist Bio

Originally from the Bronx, NY, I grew up seeing my siblings drawing for enjoyment and with that, the desire to draw grew on me, so I learned to draw also.

I attended the High School of Art and Design where many of my fellow students are famous artists today. Experiencing and seeing such talent, I’ve been fortunate having the opportunity to live in creative-rich environments such as New York, Miami and Kentucky.

Though, as the years passed, life happened and took over, where I drew less and worked more in a non-artistic career.  Through the years, encouragement came from my wife, who is an artist, and my friends suggesting that I should paint again.  After seeing my wife create these beautiful abstract paintings, I got the bug to start painting again – she inspired me!

My work consists of capturing the essence of people of all colors and walks of life. Since I was a young boy in New York City, I have been surrounded by the fascinating diversity of every ethnicity.  My approach is non-political, non-biased and celebrates and rejoices people from all walks of life.

The act of painting these captivating faces with a combination of different colors and mediums gives me a sense of freedom to create, relieving the stress and worries from every day life.

My process involves research and study of interesting subjects and using it to create artwork that includes photography, drawing, painting and mixed media.  The medium of choice is water-mixable oils because of its oil-like texture but its respect for the environment in which we live.
